In frozen shoulder, the capsule surrounding the joint thickens and tightens, restricting movement in several directions. Rotator cuff problems often cause pain and weakness when raising the arm, reaching or sleeping on the affected side.

In both conditions, rehabilitation aims to restore shoulder mobility, strengthen the muscles supporting the shoulder and shoulder blade, and help the arm return to normal use.

POWER PLATE IN SHOULDER REHABILITATION

During Power Plate training, vibration enhances muscle activation. The muscles supporting the shoulder and shoulder blade can be trained effectively with gentle movements and light resistance. Increased muscle activity also stimulates circulation and metabolism in the area.

The exercises and ranges of motion are always selected according to the condition of the shoulder and the stage of rehabilitation.

FROZEN SHOULDER

With frozen shoulder, mobility is restored gradually without forcing the joint. Power Plate enables supported movements and different shoulder positions that can be used to begin mobilising a stiff shoulder safely.

Research on the use of vibration platform training for frozen shoulder is still limited. In a case report using a vibration platform and carefully selected shoulder positions, the method was considered potentially useful in supporting the recovery of shoulder mobility.

ROTATOR CUFF PROBLEMS AND SHOULDER IMPINGEMENT

The rotator cuff muscles and tendons support the shoulder joint and control arm movement. Rehabilitation focuses particularly on strengthening the muscles supporting the shoulder and shoulder blade and restoring the arm’s natural movement.

In a 2026 randomised controlled trial, exercises performed with vibration increased the activation of two key shoulder blade–supporting muscles more than the same exercises performed without vibration. The study included 40 athletes who regularly performed overhead movements.

In a study involving shoulder impingement, training that included vibration improved shoulder function and mobility. The strength of the muscles responsible for rotating the shoulder increased only in the vibration group.

According to a 2025 research review, exercises targeting the shoulder and shoulder blade muscles improve shoulder function in people with rotator cuff problems.

Promising results have also been reported in other forms of shoulder rehabilitation. In a 2025 randomised controlled trial, adding vibration therapy to exercise improved shoulder mobility and muscle strength more than home exercises alone. The study involved shoulder rehabilitation following breast cancer surgery and radiotherapy.

Some of the research on shoulder and neck-shoulder conditions concerns local vibration or other forms of vibration therapy, rather than Power Plate platform training specifically. These studies support the possible benefits of vibration for pain, muscle activation and mobility, while Power Plate training is always planned individually according to the shoulder condition and the stage of rehabilitation.

OUR CLIENT’S EXPERIENCE

“I am a tennis player and had been suffering from frozen shoulder. After only ten Power Plate training sessions, my mobility had improved considerably and I was able to play tennis again. I can warmly recommend Power Body Helsinki; my overall wellbeing has also improved.”

Power Plate training does not replace medical assessment of a shoulder condition, physiotherapy or any other necessary treatment. However, it can be used alongside them as individually tailored exercise to support mobility, muscle strength and shoulder function.

Would you like to get your shoulder moving and functioning better again? Book an individual training session.

Frozen shoulder and rotator cuff problems are not the same condition.
