About us

The person, not the programme

Power Body Helsinki grew from my belief that a person should not be made to fit a predetermined programme. Training, rehabilitation and support for health should be built around the individual and their situation.

Here, you are not seen simply as a back, a knee, a diagnosis or a training goal. You have your own history, everyday life and way of responding. That is where our work begins.

Where it all began

One idea that would not let go

In 2005, I was still living in Germany. I was asked what I would want to do if anything were possible. I answered:

“I would like to open Finland’s first Power Plate studio in central Helsinki, where I could focus on supporting each client’s health individually and as a whole.”

The idea stayed with me for nearly ten years. In 2014, I founded Power Body Helsinki and began in the guest room of our home with one Power Plate. In November 2015, I received the keys to premises on Kalevankatu, and in early 2016 the business moved there in collaboration with Osteofit.

In 2017, we expanded into a second room. In 2019, small-group sessions began and the Kalevankatu space grew into a studio with several machines. Today, Power Body Helsinki operates on Eteläesplanadi, but the original idea remains the same: every client is treated as an individual.

I am Elina

Nurse, educator, coach and curious problem-solver

I qualified as a nurse in Bonn in 1999 and worked on the vascular surgery ward of a university hospital in Germany. I then joined TransCare Service GmbH, where my work combined wound care, medical technology and the entire care pathway from hospital through rehabilitation to home.

Much of my MedTech expertise, and my way of viewing care as something broader than a single procedure, comes from that period. After moving to Finland, I later worked at Laakso Hospital in Helsinki. Clinical work has taught me a great deal about the body, illness and recovery – but above all, about people.

I have seen how different people’s starting points can be. The same diagnosis does not mean the same person, the same functional ability or the same solution. That is why I listen, observe and always build the way forward together with the client.

Because body and mind work together, I wanted to broaden my expertise on the mental side as well and trained as a solution-focused coach. Solution-focused coaching gives me tools to clarify goals, identify obstacles and find practical steps that feel possible for the individual client.

Power Plate became part of my professional thinking while I was still in Germany. Over the years, I became a Power Plate Master Educator and have trained professionals internationally. Today, I also train Bindex bone density measurement practitioners in Finland and abroad. Teaching keeps my own expertise moving forward – and brings the latest practical knowledge back to the studio.

“I do not focus on what you cannot do right now. Together, we explore what you can do and where we could begin.”

How I think

Evidence is the foundation – not the limit of my thinking

I believe in evidence, but not that everything about the human body and mind has already been studied, nor that the same solution suits everyone. When conventional approaches do not help, I am willing to think beyond the obvious, combine my expertise and carefully explore less conventional approaches.

I do not promise miracles – but I will not give up simply because there is no ready-made formula.

Exploring an approach does not mean working at random. It means defining a goal, monitoring the response and changing direction when the body or mind shows that the current approach is not moving things forward.

What does this mean for you?

An approach built around you

You do not need to know in advance which method would be right. My role is to help determine where to begin and what kind of progress suits your situation.

01

You are heard first

Alongside symptoms and goals, we consider your everyday life, previous experiences, resources and what feels possible for you right now.

02

The plan evolves

Training or other support is adapted according to how your body responds and how your situation changes.

03

Body and mind belong together

Movement, pain, recovery, stress, motivation and life circumstances all affect one another. That is why they must be considered together – a person should not be divided into separate parts.

04

The goal is to make everyday life work

You tell me what kind of everyday life and functional ability you want to move towards. My role is to help find a realistic path and proceed at a pace that respects your body, resources and life circumstances.

Responsibility in practice

Honest guidance and clear boundaries

Responsibility means being honest about when our services are appropriate, monitoring the client’s response and changing the plan when needed. When your situation calls for a medical assessment, physiotherapy or another specialist, we refer you onwards.

For us, Power Plate is a versatile tool, not a ready-made solution for every situation. Its value comes from skilled guidance, appropriate dosage and the way it is integrated with the client’s goals and wider situation.

Welcome

You do not need to be ready – you only need to begin

If you are unsure which service would suit your situation, you can contact us before booking. Together, we can find a sensible first step.
