Chronic Pain Conditions

Persistent pain is not always caused by tissue damage alone. Muscle tension, reduced physical function, increased sensitivity of the nervous system and changes in pain regulation can also contribute to it. Appropriately planned exercise is an important part of managing chronic pain.

Power Plate’s three-dimensional vibration activates the muscles and the parts of the nervous system involved in sensing posture and movement. At the same time, blood flow, oxygen consumption and metabolism in the muscles increase. Vibration can relax tense muscles, improve body control and make gradual exercise possible even when conventional exercise feels difficult because of pain.

A systematic review and meta-analysis published in 2024 found that vibration training significantly reduced non-specific chronic lower back pain and the related disability. Benefits were also observed in balance and control of the body and movement.

A research review published in 2025 reported reduced pain in all ten lower back pain studies that assessed pain. The findings support the use of vibration training as part of comprehensive rehabilitation, particularly for relieving pain and improving physical function and the ability to manage everyday activities.

Fibromyalgia has also been studied. A 2025 meta-analysis found that vibration training improved the overall impact of fibromyalgia symptoms, balance and the ability to walk farther.

Training is always planned individually according to the cause of the pain, symptoms and physical ability. Power Plate training can be used as part of rehabilitation for persistent lower back pain, joint conditions and fibromyalgia, as well as to relieve pain associated with muscle tension.

Power Plate training does not replace medical assessment of chronic pain, other pain management or physiotherapy. However, it can be used alongside them as individually tailored exercise to help relieve pain and support mobility and functional ability.
